Daily Maintenance Tips for your Mosquito Screens

Nothing can be as frustrating as a mosquito buzzing in your ear, right? A single mosquito is enough to ruin your deep sleep, but thanks to the mosquito nets, which keeps all the mosquitoes out of your room.

However, these mosquito nets also need to be maintained for effective and long-term protection from mosquitoes. So, if you also want your mosquito screens to protect you for years, here are some tips.

Tip #1 – Do Regular Cleaning

First up, there’s the need to clean your mosquito screen regularly. They may not need cleaning every day, but once or twice a week is necessary. However, make sure that when you are cleaning your mosquito net, you are not using a stiff brush. Instead, use a soft-bristled brush. It helps you avoid any damage to your net while cleaning.

Tip #2 – Keep Checking for Damages

While the mosquito net door and screen do not wear out easily, a small hole is enough to invite mosquitoes to an uninvited dinner party. That’s why you must look for any damages regularly. If you see a small hole, you can just DIY it with a sewing machine or tape. However, you better replace your mosquito net door if the hole is bigger.

Tip #3: Whether or not You can Wash them?

Washing them off with a washing machine sounds like the most convenient option. But it depends on the material and mosquito net type. Firstly, cleaning them with a brush or cotton cloth is better if the mosquito net comes in the shape of a frame like an insect net for the door. Taking them off the frame may lead to damage.

However, if you have mosquito screens with no inflexible material, you can wash them in the washing machine. But that, too, only when your mosquito net is made of polyester and not cotton. Keep the settings to gentle and water under 30°C.

Tip #4 – Mind the Gaps

Sometimes, your mosquito mesh door may be displaced due to harsh weather like fast winds. It can cause gaps between the frame and the net. Hence, it will leave enough space for mosquitoes to enter your house. So, ensure that after such rough weather, you check for any space left behind. If you find any, then fix it with glue or silicon.

Tip #5 – Store in a dark place

In many places, mosquitoes come with a season, and they vanish. If you also live where mosquitoes don’t buzz for 12 months a year, then you can take your mosquito door off and store it for the next season. It increases the durability of the product. However, ensure that wherever you store them is a dry and dark place.

Final Words

By following these simple maintenance tips, you can ensure your mosquito screens remain in top condition to keep those annoying bugs out and allow you to enjoy your space in peace. So, don’t let mosquitoes gate-crash your home; give your screens some love.
